This support is intended to empower students to manage their life circumstances by adjusting their thinking or learning new skills to address their personal concerns. It may also be that student needs are best met by accessing an outside agency and the community support worker works with the student and the family to access those services.
Leaders Changing the Future
For Grades 7 - 12 Partnership and Outreach students who attend on site regularly. The Leaders Changing the Future program is an opportunity for them to volunteer to work with other students to enhance the student environment at CFL and contribute to the local and global communities as well. There are also opportunities for Grades 4 - 6 Partnership students to join in on projects.
Interested students work together on projects such as presentations on issues that are important to young people, hot dog sales and other fundraisers with the proceeds being donated to charitable organizations, and helping roles at CFL such as mentoring younger students and assisting in classrooms.
For students in the Outreach and Partnership programs, literacy support is available. Students with identified learning needs who require assistance to develop their reading skills can be provided one-on-one and small group support with an educational assistant.
